So I'm finally getting a chance to play Westward Kingdoms. I'm still in K1 but I have a question on trying to get archers. I know that I have to level up my soldiers to level 2 before I can get them to become archers and that I need an archery camp. But is there any way to level up my soldiers faster? I have them fight barbarians, kill deer, and have them stationed at wooden towers but still, it seems to be taking an awfully long time. :/

Scarlet:Sounds like you have the recipe. Picking up food, smashing crates, opening chests and grabbing the blue books known as knowledge tomes also helps. They get more points for working in a stone tower ( upgrade ) than wooden, but I usually hold off on that upgrade ( there is the one in kingdom 1 that the female was trapped atop, just mine the stone blocking the door and it's yours ). Armories add up points most quickly but there are several things ( including visiting k2 that need done before that building is available ) sunny Have fun!!!

Thanks, Jeremiah. I was finally able to level up 2 of my soldiers enough for them to become archers and the game goes much faster now. Thanks especially for the tip about the stone tower in K1. I had no idea about that. Smile

Scarlet: You are very welcome! Don't know if you would like tips ahead or want to discover them on your own, but one thing I will add is don't pick up viking helmets or crowns until you need to. Wink

That tip about the stone tower at the beginning was new to ME, Jeremiah, and I thought I knew almost everything about the game. That's why I love it so, there are always new things to discover.

Scarlett, Jeremiah is right about not picking up things until you know that you need them. Sometimes they are very rare and needed for later Quests you don't even know about yet. Even if you know a Quest is coming up, don't bother trying to gather things (except Food, Wood, and Gold) until the game ASKS you to.

    Hi all,

It's been a while since I touched the game. Been busy with real life things and all that. XD

I'm getting further into the game now and am about to go into Kingdom 3. But I see that there are "defend the kingdom" quests in Kingdom 2 and I'd like to complete them before moving on. Are there any tips for these quests? I looked at walkthroughs and glanced over at a couple of forums but there doesn't seem to be any specifics and it would be great to have some help. Thanks. ^^

    Hi Scarlet,

The "Defend the Village" side quests are totally optional and only operate as a last resort way to get additional resources or XPs for your Army if you are short on some. They are sort of practice levels, or mini levels. I think you can safely ignore them.

    Enjoy!

If you like timed challenges, you may like these.Completing a trophy set would be another reason ( you can get the help of a Giant for Defend Village if you complete an other trophy set ). I go through and get the basics done in my first game until I complete the Wizard trophy set and then start a new game ( same profile ) to get the other sets finished ( Chessboard,etc... ).

Ahh ok. I'm doing the defend quests basically because of that trophy. I'm kind of getting the hang of them now although I usually like to work in a certain scenario. They sort of remind me of the marketplace challenges from previous Westward games although these quests seem harder. But probably that's just because they're a little different from what I'm used to. I finally learned to enjoy this game, though my competitive nature sometimes kicks in.If you start getting ahead of this game you'll find yourself being hit by 2-4 "disasters" at a time.Does anyone else actually enjoy the tutorials ( esp. in the WW series )?
