    Fashion Forward Empty Fashion Forward

Post by Kaotika Sat Oct 06, 2012 1:43 pm

Today Big Fish Games had a "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" offer. So I bought 6 games, with 3 of them free.

Guess what; it was the Cake Mania games! I finally got all of them again.

Turns out I have filled my "punch card" and I get a free game. I'm looking at Fashion Forward. I've tried the trial, but didn't manage to progress much till the trial was over.

If any of you has played it and completed it, what's your opinion on this game?

    Hi Kaotika,

Congrats on getting all the Cake Mania games. Very Happy

Let's see, on Fashion Forward, it's been quite a while since I played it but I remember enjoying it. It did take a while to get used to the game play since it's a mix of hidden object and time management and after the first few levels, I found it a little difficult to get expert. But when I finally figured it out, it became more enjoyable. ^^

    Hi K & Scarlet

K, that's great that you were able to get them half price cheers.

As for Fashion Forward - at first, I tried it only out of loyalty to the CM series (because I hadn't liked that gameplay when it had been a part of an earlier game (LCA?))

But I was surprised to really like the way it played as Fashion Forward. There are several different ways to earn bonuses and I loved being able, after a few levels, re-organise the clothes on the racks and accessories on the counters (to group things together the way they would be in a real shop) before playing each day. That made it more about my speed and less about spotting things.

I also enjoyed dressing the models (something I never expected to be remotely interested in LOL).

So... I really enjoyed it, but you'd probably best play the full demo before buying so that you get to see if you like the types of mini games. (2 of them are shown in screenshots 1 & 3 on the BF page). If I remember correctly, the one about dragging things into the correct box by colour got quite fast as the game went on. Those may be the only 2 mini game types, but I could be wrong about that - it's been a long time since I played it.

Hope this helps Smile (if I'm not too late and free coupon already spent!)

    Yay MJay! Finally you're back.

Anyway, to reply to both of your posts, my computer is formatted now, so I picked an English name for my main account which means all games now work properly; I've already completed Cake Mania and Back to the Bakery (finally found my Cake Mania Deluxe disc), and now I'm already in Cake Mania 2!

As for Fashion Forward, I've already tried the full demo. Unfortunately didn't manage to play much of it, and the only mini-game I could play was Risha.com. Anyway, I really liked the first levels I managed to play, and the difficulty reminded me of the LCA levels. Plus, I'm glad to see mini-games again since Cake Mania 3.

But I've heard complaints of the later levels being way too hard (and I remember getting a bit frustrated with the last few LCA levels), and slow loading times. While I did experience longer loading times than Cake Mania, my computer is so fast that it didn't matter.

Also what made me really happy is that some quirks from the Cake Mania games have been fixed in Fashion Forward. I don't remember which ones bugged me, but I know for sure that they were fixed.

I know I'd really like to get something like Diner Dash or Cooking Dash, but I also know I would want to buy the whole series after that, so I think I'm going to get Fashion Forward. After all, it's set in the Cake Mania universe and I really like Risha as a character.

The coupon hasn't expired yet, so I'm going to use it. Thank you for your feedback!

You're welcome ......... enjoy Very Happy

Edit to add, I don't remember folk finding it too hard but maybe they did... I remember another where a 'fix' to make a few levels easier to make gold on was made (to the Max wasn't it?)

I kept the hard version of that one at the time and kept revisiting it every so often to try to get the golds anyway LOL, but now I'm on a new PC so I must have the easier version on this one since I only bought this comp just before Sandlot closed last year.

It's nearly the 1 year anniversary of this site starting up! Or actually is the anniversary TODAY for Matthia joining - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MATTHIAS!

I think that deserves it's own thread LOL (edit to say ...done!)

Are we having a party Matthias? Razz

That was with Max!, when everyone found the later levels too hard and build 1.005 introduced balance fixes.
